Germans who migrated to Russia under a deal with Catherine the Great later found they needed to migrate again, this time to America. Volga Germans migrated to the Midwest beginning in the 1870s. The majority of the instructor’s ancestors settled in Kansas where they created colonies centralized around their religion and culture. Learn about what has happened to these immigrant families since migrating discuss their customs and culture. The instructor will cook Volga German comfort foods to taste. This is a demonstration class.
