Weapons, disease, and religion played crucial roles in enabling Western Europeans to dominate the globe during the past centuries. Using Jared Diamond’s book Guns, Germs, and Steel as a starting point, this class will explore the history that made Europeans uniquely successful at colonizing and conquering. While recommended, reading Diamond’s book is not a prerequisite for this class
