Take a guided hike in the Casper area to look for seasonal, edible plants. Learn about foraging rules and how to identify, gather, and use native edible plants. You must be able to walk at least three miles on varied terrain and at higher elevations. There may be limited access to restrooms or outhouses. Wear comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, a hat, work gloves, and dress in layers. Bring a sack lunch, trowel, and small pruning shears.

Mala beads are a set of 108 beads traditionally used in Tibetan prayer and meditation. Malas are similar to a rosary; however, they can be used with any religious connection or spiritual practice. We will make Mala beads and learn how to use them for meditation. Beads and other materials are included in the class fee. You may bring a special pendant or bead to use in your mala if you wish. Your mala should be personal and meaningful to you. Wear comfortable clothing to class.

Put your passion for paper crafts to work with meditative drawing. Learn new tangle patterns, make folded pop-up cards, create and tangle an exploding box, and create a tangle journal. The Wyoming Symphony Orchestra is undergoing a significant change as they vet candidates for the position of conductor. Here is a chance to be in the audience for a concert conducted by one of the potential candidates. WSO has yet to announce the program for the season, but we are certain it will be entertaining, as are all of the performances by WSO’s talented musicians. There will be a lecture prior to our attending the concert in which we will learn about what numbers will be performed on concert night. Oct. 19 is the last day to receive a fee refund.

Enjoy playing in the mud with classmates as you learn about ceramics, including coil, pinch, and slab building, glazes, patterns, drawings, and texture in this beginner or refresher ceramics class. Learn how to use a pottery wheel or refresh your pottery wheel skills. Wear appropriate clothing for comfort and mudslinging. This lecture-recital class celebrates the magic and poetry of piano music. The piano was the dominant form of music making for 150 years. Composers made piano versions of their works for people to play at home. Learn how they arranged complex music that was written for a full orchestra, for 10 fingers. The art of transcription developed the art of piano playing and its technique. Enjoy lively music performed on the piano featuring transcriptions of opera, ballet, and incidental music for plays and compositions by Wagner, Liszt, Prokofiev, and Mendelssohn.
