CourseGraphic Known as a mountain lion in Wyoming, Puma concolor is also known as puma, cougar, screamer, catamount, igmu takma, shadow cat, ghost cat, or dozens of other names. This amazing feline is one of the most secretive and adaptable creatures in the world. Sightings are rare, but increasing urbanization and recreation in lion country is making human/mountain lion interactions more likely. Learn about how mountain lions live and how humans can modify their behavior to decrease unpleasant encounters in lion country.
