This course is designed for Geologists, Geophysicists, Petrophysicists and Engineers who are actively involved in either creating log-based cross-sections with minimal core data or create and use geomodels. Participants will explore introduction, applicants in exploration and development, and obsolete ideas in sequence stratigraphy. Upon successful completion, attendees will have a greater understanding of sequence stratigraphy do's and don'ts, Walther's Law and facies belts, and identification of subaerial unconformities, maximum flooding surfaces, and wave and tidal ravinement surfaces. Attendees will also learn maximum regressive surfaces in subsurface datasets such as seismic, well-log and core data, sequence stratigraphy of shallow marine siliciclastic system.

Led by Ali Jaffri, Ph.D., he is the CEO of Applied Stratigraphix LLC, and has twenty-six years of experience in geology projects in the US, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, North Sea, Pakistan, Barents Sea, Mozambique, Angola, New Zealand, Norway, Denmark, Kazakhstan and Mongolia. He has a doctorate from Colorado State, Masters from Oklahoma State, Bachelors from University of Colorado, and a Professional Masters in Mineral Exploration from the Colorado School of Mines.
