Read, watch, and analyze selections from Wilson’s acclaimed American Cycle while examining the cultural, historical, and artistic influences that shaped his work. Focus on “Gem of the Ocean,” “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone,” “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” and “Seven Guitars” while tracing Wilson’s powerful portrayal of African American life throughout the 20th century.
