Debate has raged for years about the health effects of soft drinks. In addition to being loaded with too much sugar and caffeine, there is also the effect that commercial soda water has on muscle and bone density. This class is not meant to argue the various opinions of consuming commercial sodas. In this hands-on class, you will learn how to make simple soft drinks at home without having to buy an expensive Soda Stream machine or other fancy equipment. Our method uses small amounts of sugar, fruit juice, and champagne yeast to create delicious soft drinks through the process of lacto fermentation. Recipes and history of soft drinks will be discussed as we sample different homemade batches.
