The Pathfinder Ranch is a great Natrona County historical site. The Oregon Trail and Pony Express Trail passed through the ranch. It was the homestead of Boney Ernst, Jim Averil, and Ella Watson (aka Cattle Kate). We will visit historic sites on the ranch and go to Independence Rock for an overview of where the trails converged. Martin's Cove will be our third stop, where we will visit the Sweetwater Museum and learn about life on Sun Ranch. This trip is rated challenging. You must be able to walk three miles on uneven surfaces. Wear sturdy walking shoes and long pants. Bring a sack lunch to class.
