It was a challenge to manage a household in Victorian America given increased choices in housewares, furnishings, and decorative items, and socially prescribed behaviors increasing. Women worked tirelessly to maintain their homes and families within the proper bounds of Victorian society. From which corner to bend on a calling card, to the proper placement of a tomato fork, we will explore the daily lives of American women in the Victorian Era. We will serve tea on the last day of class.
