« back to classes page
It was a challenge to manage a household in Victorian America given increased choices in housewares, furnishings, and decorative items and increasing socially prescribed behaviors. Women worked tirelessly to maintain their homes and families within the proper bounds of Victorian society. We will explore the daily lives of American women in the Victorian Era, from which corner to bend a calling card to the proper placement of a tomato fork. Tea will be served on the last day of class.
