The Department of Fire Prevention and Electrical Safety is excited to offer a 2-part Fire Inspector I and II training at Casper College - SEPARATE REGISTRATION REQUIRED FOR FIRE INSPECTION PRINCIPLES. Students may attend only one training, but both are highly recommended.
This training will focus on the 2021 ICC Fire Code in preparation for taking the ICC Fire Inspector I and ICC Fire Inspector II certification tests. While it is not the primary focus, this class will also be good prep for those planning to take the Fire Plans Examiner test. We will use the ICC Fire Code Study Companion text. Each student will receive their own study companion.
Students will need to schedule their ICC tests after the class. The cost of testing is not included.
Lunch is included Tuesday - Thursday. If a student needs a hotel room during the class, please contact Monica Colby at
monica.colby@wyo.gov. The grant funding for this course includes hotel accommodations for several attendees.
To obtain full local fire authority, each inspector conducting fire code inspections will need current ICC Fire Inspector I and II certifications (fire-maintenance-only
inspections require only Inspector I). In the past, a Building Inspector and a Fire Inspector were interchangeable. However, this reciprocity will no longer be recognized in 2027 because it is not part of the ICC certification scope; a fire inspector must hold fire inspector certifications.
Electrical Inspector and Building Inspector courses will be offered in the following months.
