Clerk Track -Municipal Law by Mark Stewart
This session addresses the legal responsibilities of local governance, focusing on the distinct functions of ordinances and resolutions alongside complex meeting administration. Topics include compliance with Open Meeting Laws and the practical application of public comment guidelines. The course explores how to balance community transparency with legal decorum, helping participants safeguard their municipality from liability and ensure orderly public proceedings.
Treasurer Track- Advanced Governmental Accounting by Charri Lara
This advanced course provides an in-depth study of governmental accounting principles, building upon foundational accounting knowledge. Topics include fund accounting, capital assets and long-term debt, fiduciary activities, grants management, internal controls, enterprise and special revenue funds, budgeting and compliance requirements. The course will also address emerging issues in governmental finance, transparency, and fiscal accountability. Through financial statement analysis, and practical exercises, participants will develop the skills necessary to interpret governmental financial data, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and support sound financial decision-making within public sector organizations.
