ClassGraphic Examine the stories of heroism, tragedy, and mystery that surround the Cole Creek train wreck, Wyoming's worst passenger rail disaster. Gain an overview of railroad history, the train and its equipment, and the crew and passengers. The instructor documented the wreck, recovery, and aftermath in a book using research from the Western History Center at Casper College. Explore Fort Caspar Museum's temporary exhibit on Central Wyoming railroads and visit a location near the wreck site where a historic monument will be placed to commemorate the 100-year anniversary. Bring note-taking materials and meet at Fort Caspar Museum for the first class. Vans depart from the Myra Fox Skelton Energy Institute for the second class. Driving your own vehicle is not permitted for the field trip.
