This class will examine the awe-inspiring events of the Berlin Airlift and how it proved to be a pivotal event in the course of the escalating Cold War. The movie “The Big Lift” (1950), filmed in the ruins of Berlin, is available to watch for free online. This class will include excerpts from the film and discussions to better understand the transformation Germany was undergoing during this time.
