CourseGraphic In the South West Pacific theater during World War II, the Japanese forces fought mainly against the United States, Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands forces. Although the war in this area started as a joint command of the aforementioned countries, command of the area eventually went to General Douglas MacArthur. We will review the history of the South West Pacific under MacArthur’s control during the war.
